Yixing - China

Clay, Fire,
and Stillness

The zisha teapots of master Ge Jun

Square purple clay teapot resting in a dark studio

A quiet practice

Clay remembers the hand.
Fire reveals the patience within it.

Each pot begins slowly, shaped in the space between a gesture and a breath. In the tea ceremony, the finished vessel asks for nothing but attention.

The artist

Ge Jun 葛军

A life spent listening to clay.

In his Yixing studio, Ge Jun works with the measured rhythm of a daily practice. Decades of making have taught him to leave space for the material to speak, refining each silhouette by hand. His teapots have found their way into private collections and quiet rooms beyond China, carrying the character of their place of origin with them.
